PSP Go vs. PSP 3000
The PSP Go is due for release on October 1, 2009, and though it is not meant to be a competitor to the PSP 3000, there are some capability issues that may be aroused that would have some consumers torn between the two. For one, unlike the PSP 3000, the PSP Go does not have a UMD slot, which may not be much of an issue in the long run or for those who are new to PSP gaming, but as there is about 4 to 5 years worth of UMD game titles, those who opt to upgrade to a PSP Go may have to wait a little while before a downloadable version for some older UMD titles are available.
In place of the UMD feature the PSP Go is equipped with 16GB of internal flash memory which can be extended to 32GB per 16GB memory stick. Games will be available for download from the PlayStation store. Games can be downloaded in one of three ways from the PlayStation store. You will be able to download games directly to the PSP Go itself, download the games to the PS 3 and transfer them to the PSP Go, or use the Media Go software on MS Windows based computers.
As of now the advantages to owning one or the other are pretty close to even with the PSP Go leading with a couple of advantages over the PSP 3000. The PSP Go has Bluetooth capabilities which will allow it to be tethered with a number of different Bluetooth enabled devices like speakers and DualShock 3 PS controllers, which should make for a pretty cool and more conventional gaming experience.
The new slider design allows for better portability but may feel a little awkward at first for some one used to the wider grip of the PSP 3000. I haven’t heard any talks of the first addition of the PSP Go having any touch screen capabilities, but there have been rumors of Sony considering integrating phone capabilities into future additions of the PSP Go, and being as that the PSP Go would also become a competitor device in the cell phone market. So with that being said it’s almost a no brainer that Sony would implement a touch screen feature, which would make it even more appealing to the consumer.
In my opinion it probably wouldn’t even be worth the time at this point to upgrade from PSP 3000 to a PSP Go, as the 3000 already possesses most off the same capabilities as the Go as far as the gaming experience is concerned. The 16GB of internal storage that’s in the Go may be plus, but it really is no big deal if you don’t mind interchanging your memory sticks a little more often.
So unless you are just really hard pressed to add Bluetooth capabilities to your PSP gaming experience or you are just looking to lighten your load of UMDs and go strictly digital, there is no compelling reason to go and blow $250 to $300 of your hard earned cash on the PSP Go just yet.

PSP 3000 is still better than psp go.
Another major advantage of the 3000 is the screen size; it is half and inch larger than the PSP GO. This plus price was the deciding factor for me.
I have had my 3000 for a week...it is a neat toy.

i found this site which talks in depth about the psp go and i am a little confused weather to get one as i have the original psp which i adore anyway just throught id show this for anyone who is looking for more infomation
the original was very bulky but i think it is going to be such a challenge to get used to not having the original knobstick to use like the psp but its something that will take time to get use too also i have heard all games are downloaded onto the console with no umd in site, hope thats not true as thats means sony may charge for the games also

Their is one thing i need to know about psp go can i transfer my umd discs onto psp go so all my games dont go too waste?
Adam there was talk about that your old games/umd discs etc dont work in psp go. you need to re buy them. it runs abit diffirently or something. so basicly if you have lets say 10-100 games on normal psp/3000 . you have to re-buy them for psp go.

well i think that they are both great systems but if the go cant use all my umds then i dont see myself buying it... however it would be nice to "lighten my load of umds for a while... but in the end i would probably use my 3000 more for my old games that i love... thet both are great systems.

The PSP 3000 is good if you still use UMD's and the GO is good if you download your games. Just thank god that that they didn't stop production of UMDs completely. ^.^

As i have read the following details of PSP go, I can definitely say that PSP 3000 is more cool than the latest one. If i will gave a rating to the PSP go from 1-10 i will rate it to 7...for they have the same characteristics from the other one. The only main difference is the body and the quality of it. Sorry, I posted that twice.
I think that the PSP 3000, is still better than the PSP GO. For starters, if your like me, I don't have wifi connections so I can't acsess the PSN. I have two difrent PSP's so I can switch memory cards from one to the other. You can't do that with built in memory. And then there is the screen, its smaller than the PSP 3000's, so its NOT good for movies on the go. There are alot more UMD Games than there are PSN games.

I think the PSP GO would be good if the PSP GO had more battery, the disk drive, and sleep mode it sounds like it is taking more than giving new features.
basically its simple if your planning on geting a psp for christmas and your not paying for it get the new psp go and show it off no one cares about the 3000 anymore lol but its still good if u dont feel like going through th psn or don't have internet but the psn part isnt so bad anyways u can just goto game stop or whatever and buy a psn card for like 10-50 dollars just like ur buying a umd and who cares if the screen is one inch longer the Go still looks way better and dont u wanna feel cool fliping it xDDD! and Berndon to answer your question the psn lacks games. if there is a new release game it will take a while for it to be on the psn, and sometimes they don't get added to the network. but they do say they are working on adding games.

I have a feeling that people dont know what they are talking about I mean one guy says psp go id better because it is the latest...that's bull. I feel psp go was just sonys starting point in revolutionizing portable gameing. If your in it for duarabilty and a pretty decent gameing experience and less about the looks then I say psp 3000 but if you eant something to show off to your friends and still also a decent gameing experience then go with psp go. But with psp 3000 the noticeable con is carrying all your umds with you in my opinion can be a real drag. They are both almost exactly The same in features. Hope I helped

Hi, I had a PSP GO but sold it as my I couldn't get used to holding it. I've bought a few games which I have in my Media GO software on my PC.
Does anyone know if I buy a PSP 3000 and a Memory stick, will I be able to copy the games to the memory stick and play them on a PSP 3000?

Ok GUYS. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. If you want a system and you don't care about durability or sales or whatever then go for the PSP GO. Dang psn cards are same as cash. But if your worried about the memory buy the psp 3000 and buy a 16 gb card from amazon.com for like 50 bucks. comes out to be the same price. plus you can play all of your old games. the psp go is COOL but sucks for gaming. The back l and r buttons are also very bad. The only feature is bluetooth but who needs that. dang just get a plug in mic. nvm the psp 3000 already has one. You can link both to a ps3 but the bluetooth connection might be a bit faster than the adhoc connection but either are good. Dang im still have my 1000 and with the durable battery pack. 2400 mah battery or whatev it is i get like 10 hours of play. Dang you can even get a 3200 mah off brand battery that is safe and that gives you like 15 hours of play. its awesome dude. But for any of you cfw iso hackers you cannot make a pandora battery lol. I recomend the psp 3000 over any portable gaming console. and gues what. a new game called kingdom hearts for it is coming out in january awesome dude. im so going to get it. graphics look awesome and i love the franchise. Im not much for the PSP GO...as for I dont like having to download my games...I prefer to have the UMD. While downloading Games on your Brand New PSP GO, your eventually going to run out of space. The screen of the GO is to small, and looks more like a PDA.. And all those game stores are going to lose our on a lot of revenue because they will not be selling those downloadable games, and if this is the wave of the future, these stores will end up closing and people losing their jobs.

More advantages for PSP3000 over PSP GO:
1. When you grow tired of a game, you can always trade in the UMD disc for credit towards a new game at stores like EB Games. I doubt you can trade in a downloaded game for credits towards a new game.
2. You can trade UMD discs (games and movies) with friends. This is especially good for those of us in the Navy, when at sea, we can share our pool of PSP games and movies easily. I doubt we'd be able to share downloaded games like that between each other on the PSP Go (unless we swap our actual memory cards) and with no internet to connect to at sea, PSP 3000 makes much more sense.
3. Screen size: much better on PSP 3000.
4. You can still download games and movies on the PSP 3000. Get a 16GB card, or two!
5. ergonomics: I played with a PSP Go and didn't like how close the controls were and below the screen. I am much more used to the layout of the regular PSP.
i like the psp go because of its big big big memory.....16 internal memory + 16 external memory equals alot of games....32gig is better that 8gig right? 4 times bigger than my psp 2000....haha

My opinion with the pspGo and the psp 3000
is that the Go is just digital all in all
and that kinda sucks because i have alot of Umd's of games that i still play on and the fact that they are not using UMD's is not a good thing to me... could be possibly dangerous... i know its a good thing that they are doing that but you have to ask yourself this question.. what if your computer just suddenly get a virus and shuts everything down.. or you have to reformat your computer.. all that information and backup games you have on there well go bye bye then its more money on buying the games again! they should seriously think about the new psp2 with keeping umd to it or make a go that has UMD or something I'm not a UMD lover I'm just stating that it will be kinda hard without UMD specially when you can just save right there and not having to worry about backups or something, because if that predicament i had said earlier just happened to some people... they are going to get pretty pissed and that pspGo.. will go right back t the store... i think they are both good but i would stick with the 3000 and i just hope they put a umd slot with the Psp2 because if they stay digital like the Go does.. i don't know whats going to happen with their customers in the future.

I have a psp 2000 its pretty cool and psp go just because you get more space doesnt make it better. psp 2000 has a bigger screen and if you slide the screen to hard or something on psp go it will break.

I read all the above and can say this:
I own a PSP3001, got it for Christmas. Didn't play it as much as most would have in the first 2 months of owning it. At the beginning of March my sister lent me FF7 Crisis Core, WOW!! Sick game I must say, I started playing it pretty profusely and just today when I turned it on I noticed it make a click noise it had not ever made before, then when booting up the UMD and sometimes during game play at specific loading points, it makes a harsh unhealthy grinding sound that had most definitely not been there before today! I have searched all over the net and read numerous peoples posts and replies and found that this problem happens lots!
Basically to sum it up for you, I either need to go MacGyver and open up this thing and tamper with it myself maybe prod around inside the UMD slot aimlessly hoping to fix it or I need to return it. Either way I'm not happy about it, I am super into this amazing game and afraid to play it and damage my new system. It's a real drag!
From what I gather this problem has occurred enough that Sony has done away with the UMD slots entirely. Welcome to the new age of technology where we won't run into the kind of crap I am dealing with now! If this game was on my memory stick I wouldn't have this problem and that's that!
With all this being said aside from the severe loss of all your current UMDs and the ability to share them, The PSP Go is in fact the way to go!
Just got a PSP Go for free, I still need to test it out... I don't think I'm gonna be a fan of downloading games and movies for it though... I'd rather have UMD

I have both psps, and my normal psp just stopped working so my mom was gonna buy me a new one, because I was in Korea the psp go costs the same as a normal one cost in Australia it took me ages to decide. At the end I chose the go because I am a sort of person at loses things and I didn't care about the umds because I left them on the plane. I think the go is for new psp users but if you have been using the normal one for ages stick with it.

The fact that the PSP Go has no optical drive like the PSP 3000 does means you will have to pay whatever they decide to charge on PSN for the games, there will be no way to trade in old games and you wonn't be able to save money by purchasing preowned games...

Anyone mention that if the PSP Go only supports digital downloads, then game developers could feasibly stop shipping UMD's (if they discontinue support for PSP 3000 and previous editions) and still charge the same amount for the download as they would the UMD version minus all the costs related to putting the game onto the UMD. Simply put, game developers could increase their profits by simply making games available only through downloads. Don't quote me or anything, I'm no industry expert, just thinking about the implications and all that.

you obviously don't have a clue working with the PS-store system. Everything you buy is registered and you are able to download it over.. and over again when you already bought it.

Look I do repair work on these systems (among other services I offer on them if you catch my drift). It doesn't even matter any way since the PSP-2000 is by far the best one out of any PSP. HATE the PSP-3000 stupid scanline screen and the GO is just too expensive being 50 bucks cheaper than a friggin PS3 itself "IS SONY SMOKING CRACK!!??!!". But if I had to chose one of the two for free, I would go with the 3000. the GO's screen is too small and i don't like the analog nub being placed in the center of the screen.
im planing to buy a psp , i see many people download games free and i know how but the question is if its possible to download games right from the computer sometimes instead of buying.

Look from what I gather I'f you have a previous 1000 or 2000 get the 3000, becuase you can re-use te UMDs...
If you are new to PSPs get the go, it is sleeker and fits in your pocket like a charm. 3000,s just don't sit right...

The PSP Go and the PSP 3000 have thae same motherboard, same all that crap. The only thing that divides them is the 16GB HDD. They are both the same. No matter which one you pick, it is still better than a mother f*****g DS by a lot.

PSPgo is a great game console, its much portable than the 3000, it has bluetooth,pause enabilty,16GB(not too much but still a nice point), i think the images from the screen is sharper because of the smaller screen, the sliding mechanism is kinda stable it prefectly fits your hands, it perfectly fits your pocket,.

Sony basically announced that they gave up on the PSP Go. Better to stick with the regular PSP.
noobs PSP go is good if its ur first PSP, but if u have an old one, get a PSP 3000 they both have there own ups and downs
They both sound great but if ur psp go breaks, you can kiss ur UMDs and money good bye
all you have to do is hack ur psp 1000-3001 with firmware 5.00 m33-4. download psp umd dumper and put the file with the eboot in the GAME500 folder after you have hacked ur psp (you have to have a usb to do all of this). then start it up on ur menu in the game folder. ur memory stick should be around 2gb or higher depending on the size of the game. then go to the main menu on ur psp and go to "game" then click on the memory stick. umd dumper should be in there. start it up and put in the game you want to copy to ur memory stick. it will take a while to copy but it works. the game should be an ".iso" file type. if it says it cant copy, then use ur computer and psp usb to create the file: "ISO" on the root of the memory stick. the game should be in the memory stick. um a lil confusing but i hoped this helped for people who have a psp and psp go?
I've been researching a bit and they're the same only the PSP Go looks "cooler" they can do the same things, and it would be easier and less confusing to buy them in my opinion. I don't evem know where or how to get the game cards. I've been trying to decide which one to get, and i think i'm goiing with the 3000

I want to point out to all of you that think the PSP 3000 is better than the PSP Go, that they are much alike. They have the same battery time, 5 hours. They also have the same graphics, the exact same pixels. The PSP Go, however, is much smaller than the PSP 3000 which is a major plus. The built in memory for the PSP Go concludes this. PSP Go rocks the PSP 3000. Get over it, losers.

The only problem i have with the GO is you have to rely on the (rather expensive) PSN store, and even then not every single PSP game is avalable, take Kingdom Hearts BBS, its not being released on the PSN store!...Gutted!

PSP GO is for those who got lots of money in their pockets to buy games because the game at PSN is non negotiable and can be very expensive.
So? If you got extra cash go buy PSP GO and if you want to save money and got many UMDs go buy PSP 3000.
Well as it is said in many comments above.... it depends on what you want, if you feel the need for umds and prefer bigger screen, go for the psp-3000, or else if you have a good wifi and wish to download games, go for pspgo, not much difference between the two, pspgo is more portable which is plus and minus... the psp-3000 has a bigger screen which is again a plus and minus
Look the psp 3000 has a removable battery & flash card,so more room for improvement.It supports UMD & PSN (online) so buy games wherever is cheaper & convenient.
psp go is compact with a bluetooth.you can only play with another psp go via bluetooth thats after you download the same game on both psp go's.So far psp 3000 with firmware 5.03 below are hackable but none of the psp go,well TN is developing homebrew maybe soon it'll be hackable,but only for firmwares 6.20 & below...this is a guarantee!

I think that PSP Go has got one thing wrong. Its Wifi (806.11b) lots of houses now have N type wireless and its not ideal compatability. Second PSP 3000 can get (PSP Go Cam) good if they haden't stopped the Go messenger service but still a good feature. Don't think that PSP Go got anything similar. I would personally go for a PSP GO cuz ITS COOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

The Cons about Jailbreaking your iTouch: None. I have both and i gave the psp 3000 to my lil brother when i got the PSP Go... but i didnt like it to much so i gave the PSP Go to my little brother and kept the PSP 3000.... So my advice is to get the psp 3000, its cheaper anyway... so im not jealous because i had them both but i chose to keep the PSP 3000 instead...

hi everyone the psp go is the best for you if you travel a lot the reasons are that you dont need to carry all your UMDs you can copy games in m2 and put it in an adapter so that the psp 1000 ,2000 ,3000 can use that game when you have a psp and a downmarket phone which atleast have a bluetooth feature but no internet you can use the bluetooth to connect the mobiles internet useing ur psp go . you can also use wirless headsets as they too use bluetooth the best thing in psp is that if you do not like the small screen you can make a connection with your tv and for more stuff you can use the dualshock 3 controller which gives a feeling of ps3 execpt the graphics and the hard drive

"The better the grip, the better the gaming experience" and that's why PSP 3000 is still the best. The PSP go can easily lose your grip and you feel unusual about the positions of the buttons and the joystick. i love the new enhancements of the PSP

I think psp go is better than 3000. Both of them can now be cracked so u dnt have to buy it on ps store. I think u can download copy at any torrent sites. Plus you can also play the 3000 iso game to go. Concerns are what about the umds. Well there is a program that u can download to rip ur umd using slim or 3000. U will rip the iso and put them to psp go. In terms of bluetooth its a shame that mini bt keyboard is compatible. But its prety neat that u can use a ds3 controller. And with wifi u really dnt need a bluetooth to acess the net. Those who own android phones can download a program to make it a hotspot. My only concern is that the flex of the slide. I think it is the weak spot of the device. But hey if ur to scared to break ur toy use the ds3 controller. Other than that it is a good toy. I might say better that psp 3000. Though If u have the 3000 dont sell it just to have the go. It is much wiser if u keep both. Peace!
I have a psp 3000 and i really enjoy using it. It is comftortable to play on. When I went to my friend's house, she has a psp go and I looked at it and i was like o my god what is that beacause it was so small and i had a go on playing on it it was uncomfortable. I geuss if you drop a psp go it will break beacuse of the slide feature and I dropped my psp by accident like about 10 times and it still works perfectly fine although therea few scratches. however the psp go is more portable as your games are downloaded and the psp go is a lot smaller so you can slip it in to your pocket. If you want to buy the two i wouldn't beacuse 1.Do you have the money?
